Every product page shows the bag’s dimensions and the size limit it fits. Rules vary from one airline to another: always check the ones on your ticket.

Choose your capacity by the length of your trip

Capacity

Choose your capacity by the length of your trip

A bag that's too big always gets filled, and ends up over the size limit at check-in. The rule comes down to three benchmarks: 20 to 30 L for two nights, 40 to 55 L for a week, more for a long trip or for two. Our product pages give capacity in litres and dimensions in centimetres, because the second is what airlines measure.

For a flight, start with the format: a cabin bag within the permitted dimensions avoids the fee at the desk, which often costs more than the bag.

Carrying

A backpack is carried on the hips, not the shoulders

A hip belt shifts most of the load onto your pelvis, which carries it without tiring — your shoulders only keep it steady. That's what separates a bag you can wear for eight hours from one you put down after an hour.

Then look at the back: a ventilated panel avoids a soaked shirt, and a padded, raised laptop compartment protects the machine when you put the bag on the floor.

Liquids get packed before the suitcase

In the cabin

Liquids get packed before the suitcase

In the cabin, bottles must fit in a one-litre clear bag, each under 100 ml. A hanging wash bag solves the rest of the problem: in a hotel bathroom with no counter space, it hangs up and everything stays in view.

A waterproof lining for leaking shampoo, separate compartments for wet items — that's the detail that stops your wash bag ending up in your clothes.

Choosing the right travel bag

Luggage is chosen on three criteria, in this order: capacity, how you carry it and material. Everything else — colour, brand, finish — comes after.

Capacity, in litres and centimetres

Allow 20 to 30 L for a two-night return trip, 40 to 55 L for a week, 60 L and over for a long stay or for two. But capacity isn't enough when flying: airlines measure dimensions. A cabin bag rated at 40 L can exceed the limit if it's too deep. Our product pages always give both.

Carrying: by hand, on your back, or on wheels

The classic travel bag is carried by hand or on the shoulder: simple and soft, it folds flat when empty. The travel backpack frees your hands and makes sense as soon as there are stairs, connections or cobbles. The wheeled bag spares your back on smooth floors, and becomes a nuisance everywhere else. Choose for the real journey, not for theoretical comfort.

Material, and what it changes

Polyester and nylon take the knocks of the hold and dry quickly. Coated Oxford and waterproof models stand up to rain and wet floors. Leather ages well and weighs more: it's worth it for a business trip, less so for a flight with a tight baggage allowance.

The accessories that really help

A wash bag with a waterproof lining, a luggage lock, a luggage scale to avoid the fee at the desk, and a shoe bag to keep soles away from clean clothes. For flying, a compliant power bank and a neck pillow make all the difference on a night flight.

Women, men, kids

The split comes down mostly to volume and colours: women's models are often lighter and more structured, men's models wider, and kids' backpacks have short straps and a chest strap. Nothing stops you choosing from the other range.

Frequently asked questions about luggage

What capacity should I choose for a week?

Allow 40 to 55 litres for seven days, travelling solo. Under 30 L you're set for two or three nights. Over 60 L, the bag gets heavy once full: best kept for long stays or travelling as a pair.

Does this bag fit as hand luggage?

Each product page gives the dimensions in centimetres. Airlines measure dimensions, not litres: compare them with the size limit set by yours, which ranges from 55 × 40 × 20 cm to 55 × 35 × 25 cm depending on the airline.

How long does delivery take?

In 7 to 9 days, with tracking on every order, in France, Belgium and Switzerland. Delivery costs £3.90 and becomes free from the amount shown in your basket.

Can I return a bag that doesn't suit me?

Yes. You have 14 days after delivery to send it back to us, unused and in its original packaging, with no need to give a reason.

Are the bags waterproof?

It depends on the model: the material is shown on each product page. Coated Oxford models and those in the waterproof backpack range stand up to rain. A canvas or leather bag does not.

Can a backpack hold a laptop?

Those in the laptop backpack range have a padded, raised compartment. The screen size it takes is listed in the product page specifications.
