TSA lock for suitcases and luggage, from £12.90 to £69.90

A TSA lock secures your suitcase like a standard lock, but airport security officers can open it with a special key, without cutting it or damaging the bag. This Bagiora page brings together 3- or 4-digit combination locks, cable models and a key lock.

Combination locks: 3 or 4 digits

  • The rectangular 4-digit TSA lock (£12.90), in ABS, suits suitcases, lockers and travel bags.
  • The colour-coded TSA lock (£14.90) has a customisable 3-digit combination and a coloured case.
  • The 3-digit ABS TSA combination lock is described in its listing as customs-approved; the coloured 3-digit model, also in ABS, helps you spot your suitcase on the carousel.

Cable locks and key locks

A cable goes more easily through the zip pullers or the rings of a bag. The round 3-digit TSA lock with cable (£20.90) combines zinc alloy with a steel cable; the 4-digit TSA lock with flexible cable follows the same principle. The 3-digit steel cable TSA lock (£47.90) has a resettable combination. If you prefer a key to a code, the skull TSA lock, in zinc alloy with a steel cable, opens with its own key.

How do you choose your TSA lock?

  • For a checked suitcase: a combination lock means you can't lose a key during the trip.
  • For a soft bag or a double-zip closure: a cable model.
  • For several bags: the same colour makes yours easy to identify on arrival.

Frequently asked questions about TSA locks

Is a TSA lock compulsory on a suitcase for flying?

No. But on a flight to the United States, the authorities may open a hold bag: a non-TSA lock is then liable to be cut, whereas a TSA lock opens with the officers' key.

How can you tell if a lock is TSA?

It carries the red diamond-shaped logo and an engraved key number (for example TSA007): it is the lock officers know how to open.

What is a TSA suitcase?

A suitcase fitted with a built-in TSA lock. If yours doesn't have one, a TSA padlock added to the closure does the same job.

How do you unlock a TSA lock?

With your combination: line up the digits and the closure releases. To change the code, follow the instructions for your model.

To complete your kit

For other models, see the selection Luggage lock. A Luggage scale avoids nasty surprises at the check-in desk, and the whole range of document wallets is gathered in passport holder.
